Anatomy of a room: a study hive
The goal
We were hired help a small living room or parlor double as a study room for a rising junior in the learn-from-home era.
The challenge
We needed to make sure the room still had a “parlor” look when you enter the home. So the immediate focus in the room is a cozy seating area.
Our solution
The Quadrille drapery fabric captures an island tropical vibe and gave us the color direction in the room.
Two chairs are upholstered in soft chenille. The turquoise color visually anchors them to the drapes, creating a small conversation area.
3. She wanted an L-shaped work station so she could spread out. There are very few feminine work station desks available. We decided to go with a custom by Chaddock and use lightly stained oak.
4. An out-of-the-box office chair would have been out of place. We used this one from Hooker Furniture with stylish lines from Sam Moore and covered it in a cute medallion pattern from Carleton Varney.
Styling
5. To further round out the look we updated the lighting with Visual Comfort sconces, added a fun patterned ottoman and then throw pillows to add the final touches.
