MARKET MONDAY INTERNATIONAL
This designer travels! My recent trip to London included the London Design Centre, Clerkenwell Design Quarter and some random exploring that provided inspiration all around. It was a jolly good trip. Let’s look at some of my favorite finds.
NEW WALL AND LIGHT
This is the interior of a shop on Bond Street. The building is old with gorgeous architectural details. To bring in modern amenities (water, electricity, etc.) they built a new wall to house it all and brought it up just shy of the decorative crown molding. They put the wall to work by housing uplights to show off the detailed crown. Then they went artsy and cut corners in the wall where they pushed in or peeled back the wall to let light shine through. I just loved this!
INSPIRING DISPLAY
This was in the atrium of the London Design Centre. I love the classic all-white bathroom with quirky touches of red. The tub is Victoria & Albert.
LEWIS & WOOD SHOWROOM
The Lewis & Wood showroom had a collection of classic floral prints beautifully colored and displayed. It is a resource I have not ever seen in the USA, which is why I love going new places.
PAINTED BUILDING
Locally only solid walls get tagged. I thought this was great!
SKETCH
We randomly popped into Sketch and were pleasantly surprised over and over again. This picture shows “The Glade,” an enchanted decoupage forest cocktail lounge. It was so dreamy and the decoupage on the walls gave it such depth.
Have a peek at the Sketch website. It is interactive and fun to play with!
