DESIGNING WITH Arches and Curves

Arches and curves are sometimes inherited in our projects as they are part of the architecture.  At other times they are created by us to complement a design. Here are some of our favorite ways we’ve incorporated into our clients’ homes.

entry niches

Eco Domo, Heart Pine, Vahallan, Currey & Co

This entry has a curved niche that is accented with gold leaf and a stunning Asian statue.  The tray ceiling above gets the same accent and tops off the look of the entry vestibule.

Jamie Beckwith, Adagio

When you take it in with foyer light, the motif is repeated with the chandelier and thus draws you into the room.

foyer

Art To Di For, Visual Comfort, LHS Designs, Samuel & Sons

This welcoming hall leads to a living room with arched windows and an expansive view.  The chandelier’s  glass globes give it a cloud -like look and complements the arched windows.

arched windows

We did not want to block a single inch of this view, so the window treatments closely hug the shape of the windows.  Note that not only are the windows arched, but the wall they are on gently bows outward as well with a nice curve.

arched doorway

Welcome to the wine cave.  This narrow doorway is glowing with a multi-layer gold and teal decorative paint treatment.

Elitis, Momentum Wall Covering

From the other side you have the same narrow arched doorway surrounded by layers of textured wall coverings. Together it all adds to the moody look of the wine room.

arched bar top

Christian Lacroix

We let the exterior arches influence the design of the bar back.  Then, we followed the scale and shape and added a stunning wallpaper mural by Christian Lacroix..
