Crafting Depth and Delight Part 1: The Art of Texture

Texture and pattern add depth, interest and character to a room, transforming it from a mere functional area into an inviting environment. It is essential to strike a balance. In these next two posts, we’re going to dive into each and how we’ve used them to enhance our designs, starting with texture.

Texture

Texture can be visual and tactile. Here are nine ways we have used texture to enhance our designs.

1. Fancy Fireplace

We had a limited amount of space to bump out a wall and add a fireplace.  We gave it more visual depth and dimension by adding Ann Sacks textured tile. The Phillip Jeffries wallcovering adds more dimension and a zen mood.

2. Window Treatment

The LHS Designs window treatment and Samuel & Sons trim in this room provide visual harmony and prevents monotony in an open floor plan.

3. A cozy guest room

The textured elements in this guest room introduce a sense of warmth and comfort, making it feel warm and cozy.

4. Rich details

We used two textures to highlight this niche detail and the statue. The main wall is Ecodomo shagreen textured leather. It is surrounded by Vahallan gold leaf to emphasize the focal point.
