INSTALLATIONS: CREATIVE COLLECTIONS
THERE ARE CREATIVE SOLUTIONS FOR DISPLAYING COLLECTIONS IN YOUR HOME.
Some call it clutter; others call it collections. We love the unique items our clients collect. Finding creative ways to incorporate them into your decor adds character to your home, making it feel uniquely you. Even the Wall Street Journal believes you should show off your favorite items. At Kathy Corbet Interiors, we love thinking up distinctive ways to incorporate our clients’ most treasured items into their homes. After all, your home should feel like you, shouldn’t it? Here are some of our favorite client collections. And, make sure to read through to the end for a special peak at my favorite colleciton!
CERAMICS
This client has a very talented child! His knack for ceramics with soft, organic glazed finishes are well worth displaying. We dedicated an upper corner cabinet to display them. They are protected and a perfect addition to the kitchen’s natural tones.
ASIAN ART
World travels have left this couple a passion for Asian art and artifacts. We were tasked with using an antique door and doorway to fashion a mantle. The door itself was repurposed as a back drop to an almost human size Hindu sculpture.
BEER STEINS
A nook under the steps (on the way to the man cave of course) was the perfect spot to add a wet bar with open shelves for the beer stein collection.
BOOKS AND SCULPTURE
We converted a sunroom into a library to consolidate the books and sculpture for this homeowner. We took advantage of the deep entryway and added glass-sided cabinets for special pieces.
DECOYS AND DOGS
This lifelong hunter developed an appreciation for the handmade duck decoy profession. We designed his home office to display his collection. Portraits of his hunting dogs over the years were included as well.
HEIRLOOM SPICE JARS
These spice containers have been in the family for several generations. We not only wanted to display them, we wanted the homeowner to be able to use them and access the contents easily from the cooking zone. The ladder made more room to space them aesthetically and still reach them in time to add the perfect bit of flavor to any recipe.
