Avocados were a millennial favorite and now we all eat them. Who knew Brussels sprouts were such an essential? Now mushrooms are showing up on menus everywhere, even in coffee. Could this mushroom motif trend become a home decor trend, too? Elle just called them design’s hottest trend and they were all over High Point, too!

This trend may even still be in the fad category right now. It first appeared a few years ago with “fumed” oak flooring and then the matte black trend. Now it is appearing in accessories. I look forward to how this plays out in the upcoming year.

We have been overloaded with geometric shapes over the last decade. Now we see the same ideas recreated with curves and circles. The trend is making the rounds. Read Chloe Dimink’s take on the curved sofa trend and Savvy Heart’s piece about curved furniture.

Over the years we have seen black and white trends and matte black and gold trends. Now we are seeing matte black and white with natural colors and materials. Some showrooms called it “Primitive Modern.”

For the next few weeks I’ll be sharing spring market trends with you in a series. My first pick is all about naturals. Grass, Rattan, Caning…if it is natural and you can weave it we saw it! Palacek and Schwung both feature looks that embrace Mother Nature. This trend isn’t only visible at High Point, RHome magazine even did an a piece on where to find nature-inspired decor in Richmond, Virginia.
